LaTex Book Template with Fancy Header

You can typeset books using LaTex which is free software. There is no free lunch, however. Installing the software and learning LaTex requires a lot of effort. Don’t be discouraged. Remember, you can produce publication quality books using LaTex. I wanted to provide a book template to make your life easier. My hope is that you can pick it from where I left it.

There are excellent LaTex editors to make your job easier.

After you pass the hurdle of installing one of these editors, you have to tackle the steep learning curve. Please see the references to learn about LaTex.

I picked the first article I wrote “A Fundamental Principle” and turned it into a book typeset in LaTex just to illustrate the template.

  • Note the usage of the “fancyhdr” package.
  • Note that lines starting with “%” are ignored by LaTex. I kept some of those commands with “%” to indicate that you have many options

Template 2

You may want to suppress the chapter numbers. In that case you should comment out the “table of contents” command. You can always create a  “table of contents” yourself using chapter*{…} option. I indicated the changes with red color in the text below
