How to insert vertical space in the WordPress editor

Sometimes it is necessary to control the vertical spacing in your WordPress blogs, especially around inserted pictures.

My solution is the following:

In the WordPress editor go to the HTML mode (the tab labeled as “Text”) and insert this command in a specific place in the text

<div style="margin-bottom:3em;"><span style="display:none;">.</span></div>

You can control the vertical space by changing “3em” to “5em”, “10em”, etc.
