Skipping an Age

In my native language Turkish there is a phrase “çağ atlamak” which literally means “skipping an age” but it actually expresses a desire for rapid progress. This phrase has been on my mind lately.

In school they taught us about Paleolithic and Neolithic ages which lasted thousands of years. In European history, we learned about the periods known as the Antiquity, Medieval and Modern periods which lasted centuries. Later in life, I learned that Indians imagined cosmic ages lasting millions, billions and even trillions of years.

There is the Great Platonic Year which is equal to the periodicity of Earth’s Precession. Earth’s spin axis traces a conical area in space around the rotation axis of the solar system.  This motion (Earth’s Precession) is similar to the precession of a spinning top.  The difference is that the Earth’s Precession is very slow. It takes about 26 thousand years for the Earth’s axis to point to the same location in space.

I don’t want to confuse you but there is also the Precession of the Equinoxes which has a 23 thousand year periodicity. Many people confuse the Precession of the Equinoxes with the Precession of Earth’s Axis because some educators wrongly claim that the periodicity of the Precession of the Equinoxes is 26 thousand years. Even the makes this mistake. I wrote a separate article explaining the difference.

Astrologers divide the Great Platonic Year into 12 ages – each one lasting more than 2000 years. I suppose astrologers could divide the 23 thousand years of the Precession of the Equinoxes into 12 and come come up with ages lasting slightly less than 2000 years. In either case, we are approaching the Age of Aquarius. By the way, why 12? The question of 12 might be an interesting subject for a post.

Age implies the passage of time as well as great changes. Transition to a new age is signified by great changes.

From my perspective, we are now transitioning into the Information Age. The Age of Knowledge will follow. The Age of Knowledge will be followed by the Age of Spirituality. In the Age of Spirituality, humanity will reflect the Cosmic Consciousness more and more and be like angels.

Whatever the age we are in, I want to skip an age.
