Principle of minimal structure

spiral_staircaseI delayed this post for six months. I decided to release it today because holding it longer would mean that I am becoming timid and self-conscious with my physics speculations. Here it goes.

I stayed in a hotel in Antalya for 5 days last summer. I did not use the elevators and took the stairs instead. It was good exercise. Hotel’s staircases were similar to the structure shown on the left. They had a specific helicity: counter-clockwise when going up (against gravity); clock-wise when going down (with gravity) .

I mention gravity because it is relevant to the story. Besides, gravity is the first thing that comes to mind when you are going up in a helical staircase.

Buildings do not have separate staircases for people going up and for people going down. Even thinking about such a design is absurd because that would be such a waste of money and resources. The second staircase would take extra space for no good reason. It seems to me that Nature is also very economical when it comes to using space for its structures. More importantly, my intuition tells me that there is a minimization principle regarding the structure itself. Nature prefers minimal structures.

Principle of minimal structure is a consequence of the eternal interplay between the ‘cosmic binding action’ and the ‘freedom seeking’ principles.

In a recent post titled “Why is space is so big and particles so small” I discussed the singularity seeking nature of the ‘cosmic binding action.’ I don’t want to repeat all the arguments here but it is important to remember that the ‘freedom seeking’ principle opposes the ‘cosmic binding action’ principle. Elementary particles would be total singularities without the ‘freedom seeking’ quantum effects. The ‘principle of minimal structure’ is another consequence of the interplay between the ‘cosmic binding action’ and the ‘freedom seeking’ principles.

Even as the structure gets more complicated – as in molecules – the interplay between the opposing principles (the ‘cosmic binding action’ and the ‘freedom seeking’ principles) will produce minimal structures.

We can also observe the ‘principle of minimal structure’ in the decays of elementary particles. In an old post titled “Why elementary particles decay?” I remind people that all particles other than proton, photon, electron, and electron type neutrino decay quickly. It seems that nature wants to return to a simpler state by freeing itself from the complications of any kind.

Let’s get back to the helical structure

I am trying to develop a conceptual model of particle physics based on the existence of primordial threads which are entities that are NOT embedded in space-time. Rather, they create space-time-matter. Primordial threads are the minimal forms from which space, time, charge, spin, and mass emerge.

I will only mention the neutrinos in this post. I used to think that neutrino and anti-neutrino would be separate helical formations of the primordial thread. Their helicities would be opposite of course. Now, aided by the principle of minimal structure, I am thinking that the topology of the primordial threads representing neutrino and anti-neutrino must be the same. There must be just one form for the neutrino and the anti-neutrino. They must be differentiated by an effect similar to gravity.

If the internal flow is impeded by this “gravity-like-effect” while circulating in the helical primordial thread then it is an anti-neutrino and if the flow is aided by this “gravity-like-effect” then it is a neutrino.

Helicity is the rotational sense of the internal flow. In physics, helicity is defined relative to the direction of motion. But, the direction of motion as well as space, time, charge, spin, and mass are resultants – they emerge – from the curvatures of primordial threads. Helicity of a primordial thread form must be defined by a quantity belonging to the primordial stage.

New approach to “anti-ness” of anti-matter

Each elementary particle has an anti-particle. If the elementary particle carries electrical charge then its anti-particle will have the opposite electrical charge. The opposite charge is not the cause of “anti-ness” because we know that neutrinos which are electrically neutral have anti-particles too. The “anti-ness” of elementary particles is not well understood.

According to my new thinking there is a mysterious effect similar to gravity that differentiates matter from anti-matter. The opposite charge is not the cause of “anti-ness.” The opposite charge is just a symptom in the special case when the primordial thread is in the form of a closed loop. In the case of open helical structures of the primordial thread, that mysterious “gravity-like-effect” can make the same structure appear as neutrino or anti-neutrino depending on whether the internal flow is impeded or aided by it.

I kept saying “gravity-like-effect.” What if this “gravity-like-effect” is actually the gravity itself? I should re-phrase: there is a mysterious effect in the primordial stage that is the root cause of “anti-ness.” What if this effect appears as gravity in the space-time-matter stage?
