Academic rankings of top Turkish universities are disappointing. The rankings shown below do not reflect the quality of education, however. I am very familiar with these universities, especially my alma mater Boğaziçi University. The quality of teaching at Boğaziçi University is at the same level as the top universities in the United States.
The rankings below are primarily determined by the impact of academic papers originating from these universities based on citations as well as the rankings of the journals those papers appear in. Experts who analyzed the situation concluded that the majority of Turkish academics tend to publish in lower impact journals.
